Match Evaluation gives you the ability to compare your query with another Audience Builder query (internal selection) or with a list of people (external CSV file). For example, if you purchase a list of people to which you want to promote a newsletter, you can find out how many people on the list already receive the newsletter by comparing the list to a query of the current newsletter recipients. To use match evaluation, create your query and then use the Match Evaluation menu to select an Internal Selection (Audience Builder query) or an External CSV File.
Internal Selection
After you select Internal Selection, you will be prompted to search for existing Audience Builder queries. Click the “Add” link next to the internal query that you want to compare to your current query. If you have more than one group and want to compare to a particular group, click on “Add to Group”. Select the query you wish to use. The window will close and you should see the query you selected. You can add the match eval query to the query you created. If you have more then one group, you add the query to a specific group. To add more than one query, you will need to add each query one at a time. After you have added the queries, you will see all the internal queries added to your current query.
External CSV File
This allows you to compare a data file to your current query. You can choose the file to load as well as which field to compare between the file and your current query and how many characters of that field should be compared. The more characters compared, the more precise your results will be, however your total will most likely be lower. The file should be single column, no header required. You can also add compare the file to a group by clicking on the “specify groups” link. Please note you are limited to one “External CSV File”.
Once you have added the internal selections or csv files to your query, you can decide how you want the matching customers to affect your query by selecting the “And”, “Or” or “Exclude” options.
